Re: January transfer window
no it's not.
we are signing someone to be the number 2 because they dont want Roberto or Martin anywhere near the pitch.

capisce?

Block 4:54 Tue Jan 7
Re: January transfer window
We had 3 keepers, Roberto is proven to be dogshit hence why we're letting him go and getting another.

Not difficult is it?

Re: January transfer window
"Martin is a more than adequate no.2"

he isn't, that's the point.

that's why we are bringing someone else in.

Re: January transfer window
I wouldn't be overly unhappy about it.

Any decent goalkeeper will not be happy at playing number 2, Martin is a more than adequate no.2,

Re: January transfer window
The odd mistake not regular.

At one point he was probably the best keeper in the league. And you are comparing him to Martin?

I’ll make it simple for you, would you be happy with David Martin as our number 2 GK?

goose 3:46 Tue Jan 7
Re: January transfer window
Yeh I’m the doughnut for thinking David Martin isn’t a reliable PL keeper.

Re: January transfer window
De Gea has made some comical errors over the last few years, which completely blows your point out the water.

Carry on though, it's funny you making yourself look an idiot.

Goose, you're a doughnut.

Re: January transfer window
none in the PL that last very long.
that's the point, they rarely make mistakes.

GK who have only ever been first team regulars at MK Dons tend to make more mistakes, thats why they are deemed not good enough to be first or second choice at PL clubs.

Block 3:38 Tue Jan 7
Re: January transfer window
So you can't find any goal keeper who doesn't make mistakes then pull of excellent saves?

Thought not.

Find any goal keeper in the world who hasn't made saves off the back of a mistake.

I'll wait.

Man Utd's is Lee Grant.

Chelsea's is some kid who doesn't have a Wikipedia page.

Come on here to see some juicy transfer gossip and you're arguing about a fucking offside save from months ago.

Gaylords.

Re: January transfer window
A bigger point is who can we (or indeed most PL teams) attract to be third choice? It's generally an ageing lower division player or a kid - neither of whom are typically regarded as "PL standard". They pretty much NEVER play and have zero expectation to.

Martin has been excellent with what he's had to do - better than I expected. To pick apart a performance when he kept a clean sheet is churlish.

Randolph is an enormous upgrade on Roberto and that's what matters here.

Re: January transfer window
He spilled a shot that he should have either held or pushed much further away from goal.

He got lucky that Giroud was offside and lucky that Giroud didn’t punish his mistake. Maybe someone in form would have held his line better and finished the chance presented.

Do you want someone in goal who is having to make saves to cover his mistakes?

Block 2:18 Tue Jan 7
Re: January transfer window
it's pretty simple to laugh at the fact you think Martin got "lucky" against Chelsea.

Firstly the player was offside, and secondly he made two further excellent saves to deny Grioud. Massively lucky that.

careful you don't dislodge the one working brain cell.

it's pretty simple stuff for even you to follow.

Re: January transfer window
follow was a good save that he shouldn't be making.
next time he might not be so lucky, i'd rather luck didn't come into it and he makes the save first time.

Fabianski was first choice at Warsaw in 2006. He played for Poland in 2006. He was 21. He was in and out of the team at Arsenal who were a champions league team.
and you are trying to compare him with a keeper who has never been a first team regular at anywhere apart from MK Dons.

like it or not using your feet is very important, they are no longer just goalkeepers.
70% of their touches are with their feet. the game has changed.
